The diagram below shows the water cycle, which is the continuous
movement of water on, above, and below the surface of the Earth.
The given diagram details the step by step procedural working of the water cycle.
Looking from the overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the entire process consists of five main stages, starting with the evaporation of water into water vapors, initiating condensation followed by the cloud formation, and finally returning the water back in the form of rain to complete the cycle.
According to the given illustration, to begin with, the sun rays commence the process of evaporation resulting in water vapors that constitute nearly four-fifth of water from the ocean, and the rest from the other water bodies. After that, the water vapors in the presence of the cold air undergo condensation before forming the clouds.
Furthermore, once the clouds are formed, it results in heavy precipitation leading to circling back the water into the ground surface. Besides the rainwater, the melting of the snow also contributes to the same. Whilst some of the rainwater enters the ground system, a part of that gets infused with the oceanic saltwater. Hence, the whole process repeats itself to circulate the water into the entire atmospheric system.
