Nowadays more tasks at home and work are being performed by robots. Is this a negative or positive development?
Advances in robotics have enabled robots to be integrated into households and workplaces, taking over tasks formerly performed by humans. This is a positive development, which will be proved in the following essay.
Discussing the positives of utilizing robots, people first highlight the improvement to work quality. This encompasses eliminating human errors, reducing work hazards as well as elevating production rates. As an example, the current use of drones and robots allows scientists to safely obtain data and samples from dangerous work zones such as volcanoes or precarious mountainous areas. Similarly, productivity in production lines is also heightened thanks to the use of programmed robotic arms or mini transporting units.
Furthermore, robots have also transformed household work. Repetitive errands such as cleaning the house and doing the dishes are viewed as burdens and a source of stress for consuming significant amounts of time. The placement of robots in homes, evident by the widespread popularity of the vacuum cleaning robot Rumba, permits the household chores to be completed without human input and thus, liberating people to have more time for their individual desires.
There are indeed concerns related to the rise of automated machines, which can be resolved with reasonable trade-offs nonetheless. The robotic replacement in jobs such as bartenders, construction workers and receptionists is eminent but gradual. This also catalyzes a beneficial reorientation to the workforce as a whole, causing it to shift its focus to more sophisticated problems such as green energy or aging populations. Likewise, in homes, while there are worries that people will become more sedentary and reliant on machines, it should be noted that the additional free time could be instead invested in leisure pursuits or meaningful pastimes, which could benefit members of the public mentally and physically.
In brief, it is in my conviction that the implementation of robots in our work and home is an advantageous trend, enabling existing tasks to be completed safer, faster while allowing time and resources to be better spent on other purposes.
