The pie chart given compares a specific nation in terms of the how adults allocated their working day for partaking in distinct activities in 1958 and 2008.
It is clear from the chart that during the research period, adults were prone to spend most of their time working. Additionally, all the figures experienced noticeable changes.
In 1958, the share of time used for working by adults accounted for 33% of the total, while the rate of sleeping was dwarfed by that of working, at 32%. Likewise, the figures for going out and relaxing at home were nearly 1,5 and 4 times as low as that of working, at 19% and 8% respectively. By contrast, adults tended to spare 6% of their time for other, compared to 2% of time spent travelling to work.
In 2008, there was a steady increase in the percentage of working to 42%, while that of relaxing at home was matched by a roughly similar trend to 13%. Meanwhile, the shares of sleeping and going out underwent substantial drops to 25% and 6% in turn, compared to a stability witnessed in that of other, at 6%. At the same time, this nation saw a fourfold growth in the rate of travelling to work to 8%.
