The maps below show the centre of a small town called Islip as it is now, and plans for its development. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The two maps show the changes that are suggested to the present arrangement of the little town called Islip.
In general, the development will change dramatically. More amenities will be built and the transport system is planned to be upgraded.
Currently, the major road in this center is from west to east, with two small lanes leading southward, one of which goes to a park and the other to a school. Between those two lanes, there are two ranges of shops along both sides of the road and residential areas in the south and a countryside area far in the north.
In the future, the area will be surrounded by a dual road. As a result, the northern shopping district and the surrounding countryside will be destroyed, while the southern shopping district will survive. A bus stop, a shopping center and a parking lot will be constructed inside the road. The school will stay in its current location outside the circle, but a park will be moved inside the pedestrian zone.
