Each year, the crime rate increases.
What are the causes of crime and what could be done to prevent this rise in criminal activity?
It is reported that there is a continual increase in yearly crime rates across the world and there are two prominent causes for such phenomenon: poor education and job shortages. To address these issues, the government ought to implement different education programmers and promote business activity.
Admittedly, an individual’s level of education directly affects a Peron’s lifestyle. The less knowledge and skills a person can absorb at school, the less successful that person will be in navigating through challenges and complex problems in life. Therefore, he will likely resort to criminality as a means of livelihood, which is evidenced in many ghettos where young children are often ill-served by education and inevitably become racketeers when they age. Rising unemployment is also the occasion of higher crime rates. This is because the unrelenting financial pressure forces people to commit wrongdoings such as drug abuse and theft due to frustration or the need to sustain themselves.
To tackle the aforementioned root causes, the government should improve education system in disadvantaged areas by building more schools and subsidizing or even offering free education to poor children. By doing this, more children will become educated, thus increasing their employability. More importantly, new generations of employed workers will not consider committing crime as a way of life. Simultaneously, it is advisable for the government to provide incentives for both domestic and foreign businesses to establish in underdeveloped areas in order to generate more jobs. In fact, this approach has been widely used in many developing countries such as Vietnam to effectively reduce joblessness and remedy the root causes of crime.
In conclusion, there are numerous causes of rising crime rate with the lack of education and unemployment being dominant, so to deal with these reasons the government have to improve education system in favor of disadvantaged people and create more professional opportunities especially in poorly developed areas.
