The charts show the information on how much proportion of expenses the government took for roads and transport in four countries from 1990 to 2005.
Overall, the percentage of spending on roads and transport in four countries witnessed a downward trend over 15 years. Moreover, the highest percentage belonged to Portugal while the UK used the least percentage of spending on roads and transport.
It is substantial that above two-fifths Portugal’s budget was poured into roads and transport in 1990. Following that, the figure showed a sharp decrease of 7 percent in 1995 and then gradually fell to 16 percent in 2005. Only 11% of spending on roads and transport was recorded in the UK in 1990. After a slight rise to 13% in 1995, the proportion of spending remarkably declined to around 7 percent in the next ten years.
With 20 percent, Italy ranked second in 1990. In the next 10 years, there was a drop to 12% and the number finished at 13% in 2005. In addition, USA showed a leveling of in the whole examined period with the start at 13% and the finish at 12 percent.
