The line graph illustrates three different types of crime, namely burglary, car theft, robbery in Newport city centre which had changes on the level between 2003 and 2012.
It is noticeable that, the rate of burglary was the highest until 2006 then it fell significantly and its place replaced by car theft. However, the level of robbery remained fairly constant.
To start with, it was 3400 incidences of burglary in 2003 and it reached a peak in 2004 with nearly 3700 accidents. In the next four years it registered a downward trend and reached a minimum approximately 1200 incidents in 2008. However, in 2009 it grew by virtually 3000 accidents and remained almost stable until 2012.

On the other hand, car theft maintained the same level during the first three years from 2003 to 2005 yet, it declined to around 2000 incidences in 2006, then there was a fluctuation until 2009. The figure showed about 2700 accidents in the last given year. Finally, robbery stayed almost unchanged from 2003-2012.
