years 1965, 1985 and 2005.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and making
relevant comparisons.
The pie charts show how people chose where to stay on vacation in 1965, 1985, and 2005.
As a whole, people prefer to stay in hotels and caravans, while camping and staying with friends or family have become less popular options. Aside from that, the two most popular options in years past have been staying with friends or family and staying in hotels, with the exception of 1965, when the former was the most popular option.
The number one choice of 55 percent of Americans in 1965 was to stay with friends or family. In the following two years, this percentage dropped to 35 percent and 30 percent. First-year results showed that camping accounted for 15% of the remaining choices. Once it reached 18 percent in 1985, it dropped to 12 percent in 2005 before rising slightly again in 1985.
In contrast, only 16% of people chose to stay in a hotel in the first year given; however, this choice increased significantly to 37% in 1985 and 38% in 2005. Only 10 percent of the total pie chart was made up of caravans in 1985, a decrease from 14 percent in 1965. In 2005, this figure was twice as high as it was in 1985.
