TPO43 - agnostids and related theories

The passage and the lecture discuss how agnostids lived in the ocean. The author of the passage presents three theories to ascertain the ways these small animals could prey on and get their own food to be alive. The lecturer believes none of the reasons could pretty sure and explain how they obviously get their needs in the vast ocean ecosystem.

The author argues that the agnostids may be free-swimming predators that feed of smaller animals. Moreover, that knows many smaller organisms were in the ancient ocean that were pretty suitable for them. The lecturer argues against this theory and believes that, for do these, they must have a large well-developed eye. It is known that they had a poorly developed eye and may be they were completely blind. As a result, agnostids did not have an efficient system for this kind of prey on.

Furthermore, the reading passage holds a view that agnostids may have dwelled on the seafloor and fed of dead organisms. Nevertheless, the author illustrates that primitive arthropods, who living this way, donot have ability to move fast and so they have a small geographical area, but agnostids had lived in multiple areas and they were able to move very fast .Consequently, this theory could not be applies to them.

Finally, the reading asserts that agnostids are parasites -a kind of animals who living on and feeding off large organisms-. The lecturer opposes this point by explaining that they population is not very large. If they feed off larger animals with large amounts of food, their population would grow up so fast. Accordingly, this claim does not possess a strong support in order to be acceptable.
