A museum near your home is looking for people to do part-time voluntary/unpaid work. You would like to do some voluntary/unpaid work at the museum. Write a letter to the museum director to apply for the unpaid work. In your letter:
Explain why you want to do voluntary work at the museum.
Describe some skills and qualities you have that would be useful.
Give details of when you would be available for work.
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to express my interest in the position of part-time voluntary work at your museum.
There are several reasons why I would like to do this type of work. Firstly, I am interested in historical events related to the Vietnam War because I feel grateful for the sacrifice of military soldiers. Secondly, the museum, one of the most spectacular tourist attractions in Saigon, attracts a large number of international visitors. Therefore, working there brings me a great opportunity to communicate with them to sharpen my English skills, such as listening and speaking skill which are essential for me when I move to Canada next year.
I believed I am a qualified applicant for this position. Thanks to reading, I have gained enough fundamental knowledge of Vietnamese history to hold conversations with visitors. Besides, my computer skills could be useful for producing videos which provide information on the television screens along the hall.
At the moment, I have tight work schedule on weekdays, but I am available every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Incidentally, please find my CV attached in this email, and I can be reached either by mail or by phone. I look forward to having an interview in person at your earliest convenience. Thank you for your consideration.
Yours faithfully,
Dat Tran
