Many young people regularly change their jobs over the years. What are the reasons for this? Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?
Recently, there has been a global tendency for young people to change jobs on a frequent basis. It is yet unclear if this practice is beneficial. This essay will go into further detail on why young people switch employment and why this has more disadvantages than advantages.
On the one hand, the aforementioned problem has roots in the fact that the youth are still seeking occupations that suit them. As many are unclear about their work-related desires, they are likely to try numerous occupations to find out their professional interests. It may take months or even years, but once they identify the types of jobs they want to pursue professionally, they can devote themselves to them, making them experts in their field. Another sound explanation is the provision of academic knowledge. Different jobs require specific skills and techniques, which means employees can be equipped with diverse professional skills. Hence, they are able to address one problem more quickly with more creative methods.
On the other hand, despite the above-mentioned virtues of changing jobs, this might hinder one’s career path. The first is that people who change jobs frequently face difficulties in finding new employment. Recruiters typically have a bias against people who frequently switch jobs, as they think those people would not work for their corporations for a long time. They believe that hiring someone who cannot commit to long-term contributions to the firm will be counterproductive. For instance, a friend of mine, who does not have a precise dream career path, determines to keep changing jobs until she finds her passion. However, she ends up unemployed as there is no employer willing to take on someone who might not contribute to the business in the long run.
In conclusion, it seems justifiable for young people to alternate between occupations. However, I contend that the drawbacks are much more substantial since this can impede one’s career opportunities. It is recommended that young people consider their future employment options as early as possible in order to reduce the possibility of job switching.
