The chart below shows the changes in car ownership in Great Britain between 1961 and 2001.

The disparity in the percentage of domestic car ownership is illustrated in the line chart, and, the data was taken in the Great Britain, from 1961 to 2001.
Generally, car might be not an affordable item in the 1960s then it was in the 2000s.
To be more specifically, in 1961, around 65% families did not have any car, about one third afforded to purchase one car, and no families owned two cars or more.
During the next 20 years period, there was a significant change in the car ownership percentage, with half of the domestic households surveyed possessed a car, and nearly 15% of those acquired two cars. In accompanied to that rate, the percentage of those without a car dropped rapidly to about 35%.
In 2001, there was a sharp increase in the number of families obtained two or more cars, which was just under 30%. The households with only one car still were recorded as the majority, but the proportion decreased slightly to approximately 43%, while that proportion who possessed no car continued to experience a downward trend. Such a rate was estimated as less than 30% in the same year.
